We are sad to announce that due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, we have made the decision to cancel our mission trip to San Francisco this year.

ABOUT

  • APRIL 6 – 10, 2020
  • SAN FRANCISCO, CA
  • GRADES 7 – 12
  • $550 (DUE MARCH 29)

We are so excited to return to San Francisco and serve with City Impact again this year! City Impact has been ministering in the inner city of San Francisco for over 30 years. We will be staying onsite at their facility and partnering with them all week. During the trip we will be engaging in very tangible acts of love and kindness such as feeding the hungry (rescue mission, meal deliveries), clothing the needy (thrift store), educating children (school), building relationships (adopt a building), and making disciples. For more information on City Impact visit their website.

The cost for the trip is $550, with a $50 deposit due at registration. We strongly encourage that students raise funds for their trip and we provide tools and materials to help them do so! Due to the nature of this trip we are bringing 7th Grade and up.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Great Co-Mission is an incredible opportunity for the Junior High & High School students of Friends Church to come together and live out the command that Jesus gives us in Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Students will be serving God and making disciples through service projects, sharing the gospel, ministering to the homeless, sharing their testimonies, and in many other ways. This will be an incredible week full of hard work, team bonding, sacrifice, worship, and fun.
Registration begins November 20 and will close on March 18, or when the trip is full. We are only taking 30 JHM students and 35 HSM students with us. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration.

Cost of the trip is $550 and includes transportation, meals, lodging and supplies. The balance due of $500 after the deposit can be raised by writing support letters to family and friends and donations are tax deductible. In fact, we’ll even teach students how to do this. Balances are due in full on March 29 (same date as our training meeting.) You are responsible to pay the remaining balance, if your student doesn’t raise everything.

Transportation to/from and in San Francisco, lodging, supplies and meals
are provided in the cost of the trip. We will be flying to and from San Francisco. Lodging and transportation in the city will be provided by City Impact.
The training meeting IS MANDATORY! IF THEY CAN’T COMMIT TO THE MEETING, DON’T SIGN UP! This meeting is designed to intentionally prepare students with the skills they need for the trip while bonding with their serve teams. When they miss it, it leaves them and the team unprepared.
DATE FOR MANDATORY TRAINING MEETING IS: March 29 in the Roadhouse from 1 – 4P. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
The answer is “NO” this trip is not for everyone. The nature of this trip is hard work and lots of it. Students need to be willing to follow directions and be a servant in any way they can. There is no room for goof-offs or someone looking to take a nice vacation. We are going to have a great time, but the only way our trip succeeds is for everyone’s heart to be in the right place.
We believe that uniting to serve a community together will have a greater impact than if we each did something on our own. It is our hope that the relationships formed will strengthen our student ministry, the modeling of serving and leading by older students will inspire younger ones, and the excitement of younger students will re-energize older students.

We recognize that High School and Junior High students have different needs. Serve Teams, rooming assignments, and work projects will be age specific.

Our JHM and HSM team is really excited about partnering together on this trip. By combining our resources and talents we will be able to provide an amazing missions experience for students.

*Due to the nature of this trip, we do feel that this trip is too mature for our younger students. Therefore we are limiting this trip to 7th – 12th Grade students. We have all students fill out a spiritual application at the time of registration to make sure they are fully ready for a trip like this.

We will be involved in several different types of ministry opportunities that serve people with different needs throughout the week. Each day the team will discover the mission that they were destined to fulfill. Projects look anything like feeding the homeless, clothing the needy, teaching kids, and so much more. On this trip they will experience what it means to serve people who are less fortunate and leave them with a hope for their future.
Unfortunately, City Impact is unable to accommodate any dietary restrictions. Your student may need to bring their own food. If so, please pack a cooler with food for each meal, your student will only have access to a microwave so please make sure any “preparation required” meals are microwavable.

Please bring prepared coolers to our Training on March 29 we will be sending coolers and sleeping bags ahead of us to our location.
