Key Passage: John 11
Key Idea: When Lazarus died, Jesus had a surprising response: He wept. He cried. Why? Because He knows that this world is not as it should be, not as His Father created it. And even though He knows more than ever that God’s will will be done on this earth at some point, he still feels pain at how far off this world is from God’s design. We learn from this that weeping is good; it’s natural. But we can also have hope that one day, joy will come. That is the tension we live in at all times; that is especially the tension we live in in this season. “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
